Six years ago Kobe Bryant left us: a farewell that still hurts

On January 26, 2020, the world was shocked by the news of Kobe Bryant’s death. A dramatic moment that, to this day, still hurts. his absence is sorely missed, not only among basketball fans. Kobe Bryant was an example, a reference point, and his absence has left an unbridgeable void. Six years later, his memory is more vivid than ever, with so many ongoing celebrations in his honor.

Kobe Bryant was, and continues to be, a true positive icon for the sports world and beyond. Winner of five NBA titles, countless personal records but, most importantly, a mindset (the famous Mamba Mentality) that was disruptive and an inspiration to so many. In 2021 the’induction into the prestigious Hall of Fame: “I wish my husband was here to accept this incredible award. He and Gigi would have deserved to be here to witness this” his wife Vanessa&#8221s moving words at that touching moment.

The Black Mamba, along with his daughter Gianna (only 13 years old) and seven others, lost his life in a helicopter crash in Calabas, Calif. A real drama that shocked not only his fans but the whole world. A tragic accident that, even today, is a cause for a thousand discussions and reflections because of how it happened.

In Italy, the lineup of people who loved him and continue to do so is very long. Kobe Bryant was very attached to our country. His father Joe, a basketball player, played in Italy, and his son Kobe had the opportunity to grow up in the Bel Paese.

Great Milan fan, he never forgot his Italian experience (on the court he used, several times, Italian words for classic trash talking with opponents. Kobe Bryant is and always will be missed by those who lived in his era and enjoyed his exploits, on and off the court.
