Alexander Zverev won the first of the men&#8217s quarterfinals of the Australian Open by beating Learner Tien in four sets, not without suffering: 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-1, 7-6(3) the partials, with the young American who, except for the third set, played at the same level as the German, number 3 in the world behind Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. But, match aside, it is precisely a joke about the two phenomena of the new generation that raised more than one eyebrow, especially among Italian and Spanish fans.

Zverev in fact answered a specific question, during the post-match press conference, regarding the possibility of preserving his physique by skipping a few tournaments, in order to get to play the Slams with more rest. “We are not all Alcaraz or Sinner, who go all the way in all the tournaments they play and earn 50 million a year’said the German -. Not that I&#8217m complaining about my life or my bank account… Let&#8217s just say it&#8217s a bit complicated to explain”.

Caroline Daur was spotted in the stands in Melbourne to support Alexander Zverev during the match.

Caro describes herself as a'self-made entrepreneur and globally successful actress.
Daur boasts over 4.5 million followers on Instagram with a vast international network.
The 30-year-old from Hamburg has appeared in major magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Elle.
He produced for Amazon Prime 'Dinner Club' and the Netflix movie 'She Said Yes'.
Daur collaborated with legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh for international campaigns.

She has appeared on the covers of iconic magazines such as Vogue and Elle globally.

She founded the brand 'Daurpower' and launched her personal fitness program.
Zverev until recently was linked to Sophia Thomalla, Loris Karius’s ex.
Her style, definitely recognizable, looks very different from Daur’s.

Zverev beat the fearsome U.S. in four sets at the Australian Open.

Zverev played last year’s final in Australia against Sinner, losing in three sets. In the other Grand Slam tournaments in 2025 he did not go beyond the quarters at Roland Garros, was surprisingly eliminated in the first round at Wimbledon, and did not make it past the third round at Flushing Meadows. “Something I will certainly have to fix at the level of the calendar – he then added -. Last year there were moments of difficulty, I have to be better at adapting to what happens: if the mind does not turn, it is also easier to get injured”.

On social media, inevitably, debate ensued. Many pointed out that Sinner and Alcaraz built their results not only on talent, but on rigorous planning and total dedication, while accusing Zverev of looking for alibis for a 2025 season spent between ups and downs.

There was no shortage, however, of more moderate fans, who tried to tone it down by recalling how the German was answering a complex question. The discussion is bound to remain heated, however, and could have further developments if Zverev faces either or even both champions on the final straight of the Australian course.
