At the end of the match he won against Ben Shelton, Jannik Sinner volunteered to answer questions from Jim Courier: “It’s always tough playing with Ben, he has an incredible serve. And he gets better every year. I am very happy with my performance”. The world and seeded number two beat Shelton, number 7 in the ATP rankings and number 8 in the seedings, for the ninth consecutive time in three sets, with a final score of 6-3 6-4 6-4 after just over two and a half hours of play centering his third consecutive semifinal at the Australian Open.

Aldo SeghedoniYou didn’t deserve it, Lorenzo: images of the sporting drama experienced with Djokovic

These are images that hurt those coming from Melbourne
Lorenzo Musetti had the match in the bag with Novak Djokovic…
… and it was not just any match, for a variety of reasons…
… the winner, in fact, would have landed in the semifinals of the first Slam of the season…
… for Musetti, then, it would have been a very prestigious victory in the presence of an opponent who had beaten him almost every time
Unfortunately, however, all of a sudden the unimaginable happened…
… the Carrara tennis player began to experience severe pains…
… tried to get treatment for the muscle problem in his right thigh…
… but there'was nothing to be done and he had to raise the white flag…
… to pass the round was therefore the navigated Slavic tennis player…
… a real stroke of luck for the outfielder, longtime world No. 1 in the tennis rankings
At the end of the match Djokovic was very sincere in commenting on the surprising ending of the challenge
"He deserved to win Lorenzo but he was really unlucky" he acknowledged with fair-play
For Lorenzo remains the'pride for again proving himself a phenomenon…
… coming off the field he apologized to the spectators present, a grand gesture

The U.S. pointed out to him that his compatriot had repeatedly exceeded 220 mph on his serve, and the South Tyrolean replied with irony: “I’m not very strong in math – he remarked – but I know how complicated it is to answer him: he’s left-handed and his second serves are tricky, too. I think I found the solution” though. And the numbers prove the Blue right, who won as many as twelve break points in the entire match, converting only three but still decisive in each set.

Good news also came from the athletic point of view, after a few setbacks in the previous rounds: “The match with Darderi gave me a lot of confidence in this aspect: physically I am continuing to improve”. With the exception of the crazy match against Eliot Spizzirri, Sinner always won in three sets with his opponents (in the first round, two were enough after Hugo Gaston withdrew), which allowed him to save his energy for the final rounds.

In the semifinals awaits him Novak Djokovic, a name that needs no introduction: “We are lucky to have a champion like Novak, who at his age can still express himself at this level. It will be a beautiful and complicated challenge.” Then, with a smile, he added: “If I can, I will also check out the semifinal between Alcaraz and Zverev”.

Lorenzo Musetti came out of the Australian Open in the worst possible way. L’Azzurro dominated the first two sets against the’eternal Nole Djokovic but, in the third set, suffered a physical problem, probably to the right adductor, that forced him to raise the white flag. Nole Djokovic qualifies for the semifinals in Melbourne without even having won a set against the Carrara man who chews bitterly for a very unfortunate epilogue.
