First shakeup in the MotoGP rider market: Fabio Quartararo will leave Yamaha at the end of the year. According to Motorsport reports, the French rider has reached an agreement with Honda and will ride for the HRC team for the two-year period 2027-2028. The transalpine centaur will thus leave Yamaha after seven years and a World Championship title won in 2021. El Diablo, who scored 11 victories with Yamaha in the world’s top motorcycle racing series, decided to make a change after the Japanese stable’s recent bad years, which never provided him with a competitive bike for the title.

Honda had already courted Quartararo in the past, and now it would finally manage to pull off the coup. The French rider’s arrival in HRC, on the other hand, seems to definitively push away a possible return of Marc Marquez to the emblazoned Japanese team: it is rumored that the number 93 rider has now reached an agreement with Ducati to renew his contract, which expires in 2026. D’on the other hand, in recent days Davide Tardozzi himself had stated that Marquez’s extension would be the priority for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer.

“We said that the priority is to renew Marquez. Marc has very interesting offers on the table, of course. On a technical and economic level, we have an’opportunity, he knows us and we know him, this allows us to wait a little bit’ because we have a good feeling, but we still need a little bit’ of time to make a decision” had been the words of Davide Tardozzi. “We hope he will make it soon and it will be to continue with Ducati, of course. But he asked us for some time and we gave it to him”.

Honda represented the’only alternative to Ducati, and now that this possibility has vanished, the nine-time world champion&#8217s future is sealed: he will remain a Ducati rider in the coming seasons, with the goal of winning more world titles for himself and the Redhead.

“Before he came to Ducati I knew Marc was a great rider, I had no doubts. What I have been able to discover this year working with him is that he is even better as a person. From the human point of view, from the level of professionalism, from the level of relationship management, he is incredible. Above all, he is a leader. The driver cannot just be a champion, he has to be the leader inside the box, and he is that without even talking”, Tardozzi stressed.
