Gerry Scotti says to ask the "Letterine"

Interviewed by Corriere della Sera Gerry Scotti spoke on one of the most talked about issues in Italy these days. “They overestimate me to attribute me relationships with more than thirty girls who in an interval of their professional lives have held the role of “letterina”. It would be enough to hear from those directly involved, ask them, and I am sure they would unanimously say that the statements that have been circulating are false. The bitterness I feel is not only for me, no one has thought about the girls” he recounted.
“In this media meat grinder, no one has thought that these girls are not puppets, rag dolls,” he added.
They are women who deserve respect today as then and as in the future. It is not right to brand their professional experience with the term “letter girl,” as if it were a stigma. They do not deserve it. Today they have their professions, their families, children perhaps teenagers who have to hear embarrassing falsehoods. Without respect, without a modicum of sensitivity”.
In a note Mediaset on Tuesday had intervened firmly regarding “what has been circulating in recent hours on the web and social platforms”. “Freedom of expression is not, and never will be, a freedom of defamation, media pillory or systematic destruction of people– the company created by Silvio Berlusconi let’the company created by Silvio Berlusconi know in a note. What has been spread in recent hours on the web and social platforms not only has nothing to do with the truth but also nothing to do with journalism, the right to report news or the free expression of thought”.
And again… “It is the reiteration of extremely serious falsehoods, insinuations and accusations without any basis, lies that damage the reputation of a listed company and, even worse, of so many people, shamefully involving their families as well. We are faced with a method that normalizes hate and verbal violence, fueling a climate of contempt not only for the truth but also for human dignity. This is not informing. This is not denouncing. This is monetizing and profiting through insult”.
“Mediaset firmly rejects lies, falsehoods and insinuations devoid of any foundation and reaffirms its commitment to protect the people, artists, professionals involved and the entire company in every competent forum, opposing all abuses of the media and all forms of hate campaigns masquerading as freedom of speech” the conclusion of the statement.
