Milan regains success but Bolmaro goes down: Olimpia ready to return to market

After three losses in a row between the league and the Euroleague and three consecutive knockouts in the continental competition as well, Olimpia Milano regained success and did so in front of the Allianz Cloud crowd, beating Partizan 85-79. A success, that of the Red Shoes, in which Zach LeDay’s 20 points shone, in addition to Josh Nebo’s 15 and Quinn Ellis’s 11-point, 5-rebound and 4-assist performance, whose performance masked the injury suffered by Leandro Bolmaro, who after twelve effective minutes on the parquet left contention stopping at the threshold of double digits in the points entry.
The coach of the Olimpia Milano team, who was in the middle of the game, was the first to be able to score in the double digits.
Olimpia coach Peppe Poeta stressed the importance of regaining success, but without forgetting precisely the Argentine’s physical problem. “I am happy because we came back to win after a bad week – he said -, despite some difficulties at the mental level when they tried to come back. Now hopefully we have gotten this monkey off our backs. Of course, the negative aspect is the injury of Bolmaro, who is an important player for us because he has special characteristics and with him our team changes”.
“In the fourth period we were a little more disciplined than the last few games– added Poeta again -, we went where we wanted to go with LeDay punishing the turnovers, and so on defense. In the second half we held them to 36 but a few baskets came at the end, with the game practically won. We have to be cynical for 40 minutes because in the Euroleague being cynical for 35 is not enough. Even tonight we allowed two shooters like Osetkowski and Lakic three-point shots that we knew we had to limit”.
“These are the aspects in which we will try to work and improve. We clearly hope that Bolmaro’s injury is not serious because of its importance, but if it is, it could accelerate some thoughts about the future” explained the Olimpia coach, whose words seem to suggest possible interventions in the market to cover the flaw, should Bolmaro’s physical problems prove to be serious.
About the market, Poeta closed definitively the talk related to Lorenzo Brown. “He is not part of our technical project, it is a decision made in agreement with the company” said, in no uncertain terms, the’heir of Ettore Messina on the bench of the red and white team. That is also why, in light of the Bolmaro knockout, intervention in the market to find a new point guard is becoming increasingly likely.
