Former Parma man mocks a women’s soccer champion in front of millions of viewers: it’s chaos

The former French national team player, who wore the Parma jersey in the 1996-97 season, and who now works as a commentator for beIN Sports allowed himself to make this comment while Gaëtane Thiney, sports director of the women’s section of the capital club, appeared on the screen as the two teams were in the 16′ of the second half.

The 40-year-old Thiney, who just turned 40, is not the newest player, quite the opposite: she has played 163 matches and scored 58 goals with the French national team jersey, participating in three world championships, three European championships, and even the 2012 Olympic Games. He hung up his boots last summer before embarking on a career in management.

Rapidly relaunched on social media, the video in which the phrase in question was heard led beIN Sports to intervene through a statement posted on X on Sunday morning. “We sincerely regret the words uttered live by one of our commentators and offer our apologies to the person concerned, to our subscribers and to all those and those who may have been offended”, the broadcaster wrote. “Just as the unacceptable attacks of which one of our journalists was recently the victim on social media (the harassment suffered by Vanessa Le Moigne, ed.), no sexist judgment or commentary has placed on our networks and social media”.
