Inter again victorious, for the fourth time in a row in Serie A, and increasingly launched at the top of Serie A in the wait for the not easy away match of Milan in Bologna scheduled for next Tuesday. The 2-0 win over Cremonese, however, experienced long minutes of tension due to a firecracker exploded in the vicinity of the grigiorosso goalkeeper, Emil Audero. After a brief suspension, in which the Nerazzurri players also tried to quell the fury of the visiting fans, the match resumed and ended with goals by Lautaro Martinez and Piotr Zielinski.

The two goals that decided the match both came in the first half: on 16′ Inter took the lead thanks to a perfect header by Lautaro Martinez off a corner taken by Dimarco. After a couple of chances for both teams (Cremonese was also dangerous with Ceccherini and Vardy), the match was actually closed on 31′ with Zielinski’s shot from the distance, served by Luis Henrique, and able to surprise an Audero in this case not blameless.

The most controversial episode of the match, however, occurred at 49′, with the firecracker exploded from the Inter fans’sector and stunned Audero. Falling to the ground, the Cremonese goalkeeper complained that he had some problems with his ear. Meanwhile, the visiting players focused on their fans, with Lautaro Martinez in the lead, in order to calm everyone down. In the event that the grigiorosso extreme defender had asked for a substitution, the real risk of an appeal and drastic measures by the Giudice Sportivo (sports judge) would have been triggered.

The team was not able to get a replacement.

Instead after about three minutes of high tension Audero, who played for Inter in the 2023-24 season and is now owned by Como, reassured everyone and so the match resumed. Little to report in the end of the match, with Thuram being dangerous for the guests, Djuric trying to bring Cremonese back into the game, and Zerbin hitting the post in the final.

The success at the Zini stadium allows Inter, increasingly the leader, to momentarily move to +8 on second-placed AC Milan, while Cremonese maintains its 6-point lead over the relegation zone and specifically over Fiorentina, which currently occupies the third’last place in Serie A.
