Massimo Taibi has no doubts about the importance of Milan’s decision to armor Mike Maignan: “This renewal is very important right now. We are talking about the strongest goalkeeper in the world, or at any rate one of the strongest ever. It is a move that can also make a difference from a Scudetto perspective, because it gives peace of mind to the team to know that they have a goalkeeper of that level for next year” as well.

According to the former Rossoneri goalkeeper, interviewed exclusively by Sportal.it, Milan would still maintain a good performance, but the signal sent by the club remains significant: “The team would have done well anyway, however, it is clear that this is an important stone for the future”.

The talk then shifts to the attack, a department that continues to be at the center of evaluations. “Milan is a team that needed some reinforcements up front, because few goals” come from those playing forward. Despite the difficulties, Taibi sees room for growth: “It is not easy, however, Milan can make it to Champions”. When we talk about the Scudetto, the analysis becomes more cautious. “I speak mainly about Champions, because for the championship I still see Inter ahead of everyone”.

Space is also given to Atalanta, now an established reality in Italian soccer. “He is doing well and can do even better, because the team is strong. It has shown that the mentality has grown a lot and in future years it can become a candidate for the Scudetto.” In Europe, however, the path remains complex: “Paradoxically, it is doing better in the Champions League, but going forward now will be very hard”.

Taibi, however, urges not to underestimate Gasperini’s team: “Even in the Europa League it was thought to be difficult and then it won it. I am not saying it will win the Champions League, but it will certainly do very well”.
