Bundesliga 2025-2026: Wolfsburg-Borussia Dortmund, the likely lineups

With the Bundesliga suddenly reopened after Bayern Munich’s recent missteps, Borussia Dortmund (currently second at -6) arrives at the Volkswagen Arena with an obligation to score another success to keep believing in a comeback. The Yellow and Black face a struggling Wolfsburg on the road, slipping to 14th place and coming off a complicated period both offensively and defensively.
Wolfsburg comes to the challenge after the 1-0 defeat against Cologne and with a worrying offensive performance: just two goals scored in the last three matches and a tendency to concede goals consistently, as another conceded goal would mean the fourteenth consecutive match without ‘clean sheet’. Defensive absences further complicate the picture: Cleiton, Jenz, Maehle and Rogerio are unavailable, forcing Bauer to a forced back line with Kumbedi, Vavro, Koulierakis and Zehnter. Up front, Pejcinovic will be the reference, supported by Eriksen, Majer and Amoura, while Arnold will lead the median.
Borussia Dortmund arrives in Wolfsburg with five points recovered from Bayern in the last two days and the feeling that they can really undermine the Bavarians in the title race. Niko Kovac’s team is coming off four straight Bundesliga wins and six away matches without defeat. The’only doubt in the lineup concerns Emre Can, who is struggling with a flu problem: Should he forfeit, there will be room for a defensive trio of Süle, Anton and Schlotterbeck. In the middle of the field it could be Jobe Bellingham’s turn to flank Nmecha, while Beier and Brandt will act behind Guirassy.
