Lewis Hamilton is aiming to return to prominence at Ferrari after a 2025 to forget, and in the meantime an old friend of his has arrived to support him. But more than that, a historic landmark of the Cavallino: Ross Brawn. The technical director of Michael Schumacher&#8217s rainbow triumphs also made time to work with the British driver in his first year at Mercedes, 2013, and in the meantime the experienced engineer decided to give some advice to his former aide. And, at the same time, he also wished him well about his immediate future.

In Maranello, Ferrari unveiled the SF-26, the new single-seater for the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship
Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will race with the SF-26 in the 2026 championship.

The all-white cockpit is reminiscent of the legendary '312 T' of Niki Lauda champion in 1975.
The SF-26 is the seventy-second car in the history of the Maranello stable.
For Leclerc it will be the'eighth car of his Ferrari adventure, for Hamilton, however, only the second.

The seven-time world champion was the first to take the SF-26 to Fiorano for the shakedown.
After Lewis it was the Monegasque’s turn to test the new single-seater at the Fiorano circuit.
Planned only a couple of race laps and a start test to check operation.
The first tests of the season will take place in Barcelona, at the Montmeló circuit, from Jan. 26 to 30.
The teams will fine-tune the new power units during the Catalan tests.
In February new tests in Bahrain, while the World Championship will start on Sunday, March 8 in Australia

“I still have Ferrari in my heart – Brawn revealed to the Brits from ‘Sky Sports’ -I have been there for ten years and I know how tough it can be. We would all like Hamilton to succeed at Maranello, I am convinced of that. However, there&#8217s always a line between a team that amalgamates and one that fails to do so completely. Last year something didn&#8217t go as it should have, but with the right opportunities and the right stimuli I think we will find the Lewis of old again. I hope it can happen”.

In the meantime, Hamilton is back from testing in Barcelona, where he seems to have regained his lost optimism. “Despite the variable weather conditions – he said, “we managed to cover a lot of miles with the Ferrari. We collected a lot of data that was very useful to the team, which is of great importance since we are facing such a significant change in regulations. On the track we have not encountered any particular problems. This allows us to set the work of the coming days already with a solid base, starting from here we can continue to learn a lot”.

For him, 2026 will represent a clean slate season at Ferrari. Among the certainties Hamilton has decided to put behind him as the season changes are Marc Hynes and Gabriela Kwaku Yeboah (aka Ella), manager and press secretary, respectively, of the seven-time world champion. The experienced British driver, in 2026, will also experience a change of track engineer, who unlike last season (that of the bitter debut under the Prancing Horse insignia) will no longer be Riccardo Adami.

Of the rest, the year seems to have started on the right foot for Hamilton, who in the late January tests at the Montmeló circuit has recorded the best time on the final day of Friday. His Ferrari lapped in 1’16”348, beating both world champion Lando Norris and the’other red car driven by Charles Leclerc.

“It was a really positive and enjoyable week, during which we worked very consistently. The commitment that everyone in Ferrari has provided over the winter, both on my part and on the part of the team, was seen in the mileage we were able to complete without major problems”, declared on the’occasion a very satisfied Hamilton.
