Nothing to do for Italy against the United States in the mixed doubles curling semifinal. At the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium, in fact, Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner surrendered at the last end to the U.S. pair formed by Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin, who won in a sprint with a final result of 9-8 giving themselves the final against Sweden.

The Azzurri failed to repeat with the USA, beaten 7-6 in the morning in the last match of the round. Italy started well by closing ahead in the first end (2-0) but was immediately recovered by the U.S. (2-2 at the end of the second end), which then signed the overtake at the half (5-4).

The Azzurri were able to win the match.

Down 5-7, in the seventh end the Italian pair sends the home crowd into ecstasy with a power play in which they score three points returning to the lead (8-7). In the last and decisive, end, however, an outstanding hammer by Thiesse flunks Italy&#8217s two stones, which must surrender to the U.S. pair (8-9).

Italy will return to the court Tuesday to play for the bronze medal with Great Britain of Bruce Mouat and Jennifer Dodds, annihilated by Sweden in the other semifinal. The final for third and fourth place between the Azzurri and Scandinavians is scheduled at 2:05 p.m.
