Jack Draper is looking forward to returning to face off against Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz after the long injury that forced him to miss last season’s finale and the Australian Open that opened 2026. The British tennis player, who is considered one of the potential future rivals of the Blue and Murcian, said he was injured precisely in an attempt to catch up with the two current benchmarks on the ATP circuit.

L'Azzurro is hunting for redemption after being eliminated in the semifinals at the Australian Open

“My goal last year was to reach the level of Carlos and Jannik, and that pushed my body to the limit. I tried to hit the ball harder, get free points and change my game when I was not physically prepared to do so. “The desire to close the gap with them became a source of stress, so in a way they are responsible for my physical problems…”, Draper said in the press conference.

“During my time off, I learned a lot about myself and did things that will help me improve this year’– continued the British athlete.”

Carlos and Jannik are great leaders in tennis and what I want most is to reach their level. I will do everything in my power to achieve that”.

Draper feels like a better tennis player: “During this period, which I wouldn&#8217t wish on anyone, I have learned things on a personal and professional level that I am convinced will help me become a better tennis player. I am more complete and reliable than I was last year, when I was at my best. I saw the’injury as an&#8217opportunity, and now it”s time to prove that I have taken advantage of it”.

The 24-year-old player is now determined to play as many matches as possible: “The more I play and the more I compete, the more I get used to the strain it puts on my arm. I hope to return to the best level soon”.
