Lindsey Vonn’s father confesses: "I’m heartbroken"

Lindsey Vonn’s fall has rocked the Olympics in Milan Cortina. The U.S. champion, who did everything she could to compete in the downhill despite her left knee injury suffered a week ago, fell during the early stages of the race, seriously injuring herself. The skiing icon was airlifted by helicopter to the hospital and immediately underwent surgery, and her situation left fans and her teammates stunned.
Also speaking about Vonn’s drama was her father, Alan Kildow, who confessed to Sportschau that he was devastated by what had happened:“I am heartbroken. Lindsey is a true warrior, a formidable fighter. She gave everything. Unfortunately, it was not her day. It is heartbreaking, but I could not be more proud”.
Vonn has already undergone many surgeries in her career, and Alan is confident that she will be able to get back up again this time: “When I see her, I tell her what an amazing champion she is. I couldn”t be more proud of her.
Vonn’s sister, Karin Kildow, had spoken immediately after what happened: “That was definitely the’last thing we wanted to see. It all happened very quickly. At a time like that, you just hope he is okay. It was scary because when you see gurneys being taken out, it”s not a good sign” he told NBC.
Vonn underwent surgery on her leg to stabilize the fracture, and will rest for a few days. At 41, her career may have ended here. Winning the race was compatriot Breezy Johnson, who encouraged Vonn after the awards ceremony, “My heart is with Lindsey, I know how hard it is to ski on this slope and when you fall and you are in pain, the pain is even stronger”.
