Liverpool plans a revolution in defense next season, and according to rumors coming out of England, the Reds are considering bringing Jarell Quansah back to Anfield after just one season at Bayer Leverkusen.

According to Football Insider reports, the central defender would be one of the priorities of coach Arne Slot, who wants to bring him back to the Premier League as soon as possible. Quansah had moved to Germany in the summer of 2025 for a fee close to 40 million euros, but there is a buy-back clause in his contract from Liverpool.

The English are going through a phase of uncertainty in defense, mainly due to the situation of Ibrahima Konaté, whose contract is expiring and has not yet reached an agreement for renewal. In addition, captain Virgil van Dijk is approaching 35, and his future is also unclear.

Liverpool signed Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais in January, but Slot wants another central defender in the summer to strengthen the department.

According to rumors, Bayer Leverkusen would receive about 51 million euros if Liverpool buys the player back. Quansah has impressed in this first part of the season in Germany, playing 28 games and scoring two goals.

Quansah’s market value is estimated at around 40 million euros.

The player hopes to convince England coach Thomas Tuchel in the coming months to call him up for the 2026 World Cup. Quansah grew up in Liverpool’s youth ranks, with whom he made his first-team debut in 2023.
