Luciano Darderi in a press conference in Buenos Aires spoke about Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, the two benchmarks of the ATP circuit. L’Azzurro did not mince words: “Alcaraz and Sinner are beyond normal; they cannot be compared to the others. I lost to Alcaraz at the US Open and to Sinner at the Australian Open: I think they are the Federers and Nadals of our time, they rarely lose a match”.

The American tennis player highlighted how the Serbian outfielder was more motivated than ever during the match against the'Azzurro

According to Pegula, triggering Djokovic’s motivation may have been an incident that happened in the press conference the day before the match
Djokovic had responded very harshly to a reporter who had asked him if he was "chasing" Sinner and Alcaraz as he did previously with Federer and Nadal
"I find it disrespectful to me", had been the words of the Serb

"C'is probably a period of about 15 years in between where I dominated the Grand Slams"

"To tell you the truth, I don’t feel like I’m chasing anything"

Pegula is certain: "I think what happened motivated him a lot"
"I think it ignited a spark in him", continued the'American

“Personally, every time I have trained with them, I have noticed a significant improvement because they play at a different speed and they train differently – revealed Darderi -. I always try to organize training sessions with them; if I could train with them every week, I would. With Sinner, for example, I trained as much as possible in the preseason in Dubai. Why? They play at a different ball speed; they are extraterrestrials”.

Darderi, on the other hand, feels confident that he can compete with everyone else: “To get into the top 10, sometimes it doesn&#8217t just depend on yourself; you have to avoid injuries. Last year I had to withdraw in many tournaments and I was not 100 percent. You have to be ready at the right time, in the right tournament, catch the winning streak that suits you”.

On the knockout against Sinner in Melbourne, Darderi expressed himself this way: “When I faced Sinner in Australia, in the third set, I respected him too much. There are times when you respect too much, when fear and doubt creep in, and that is something I experience now, both positively and negatively”.
