Olympic athlete's confession creates stir: harsh reactions at home

Sturla biathlon star Holm Laegreid has become the main topic of discussion in Norway following his desperate confession at the Milan Cortina Olympics. After taking bronze in the Olympic pursuit race, Laegreid burst into tears on live TV at NRK microphones, confessing his infidelity to his girlfriend.
“This is my first Olympic medal and I want to thank everyone who helped me along the way, there’s someone, however, who may not be looking at me today. Six months ago I met the love of my life, the most beautiful and kindest person in the world. But three months ago I made my biggest mistake and betrayed her” said the’Olympic athlete between sobs.
“I told her that a week ago. And it was the worst week of my life. There are probably many people who look at me with different eyes, but I only have eyes for her” continued the 28-year-old athlete, who is still hoping for forgiveness: “I had a chance to find true love and I made a resounding mistake, and I realized right away that I can’t live my whole life keeping it from her. The only way to achieve the’goal is to tell everything and put everything on the table, and hope that he can still love me”.
The confession and outburst split Norway in two, between those who thought the time and place was wrong, and those who praised him for his sincerity.
L’former biathlete Johannes Thingnes Bø was very harsh: “He was wrong, we saw a repentant boy standing there. Unfortunately, both the time, the place, and the timing are completely wrong” he told NRK. “Sturla is a very emotional person, he can’t hide his emotions, I don’t think he had decided it before he made this confession”.
The former biathlete Johann Thingnes Bø was also very harsh.
Even former cross-country skier Thérèse Johaug criticized Laegreid: “I have never seen an interview like this before. It is completely, completely wrong to have done it at that time and place. I agree with Johannes on that”.
