Nations League, group draws: Azzurri find France and Belgium again

France, Belgium and Turkey will be Italy&#8217s opponents in Group 1 of League A regarding the 2026-2027 edition of the UEFA Nations League. The Azzurri, who have already met France and Belgium in the last edition, climbing all the way to the quarterfinals and losing in the double-header against Germany, will start their journey in the group between Sept. 24 and 26, 2026, and go on to conclude it between Nov. 15 and 17 (the schedule is being finalized). The format is identical to that of last year’s edition: first two to the quarters, third to the playoff not to relegate and fourth directly to League B.

As for the other rounds, defending champion Portugal has been placed in Group 4 along with Denmark, Norway and Wales, while finalist Spain will be in Group 3 with Croatia, England and the Czech Republic.

Finally, in Group 2 will be Germany, along with the Netherlands, Serbia and Greece. The quarterfinals, to be played over the 180-minute distance, are scheduled in 2027, with first leg between March 25 and 27 and return a few days later, between March 28 and 30. Single-seat Final Four in June 2027.

The League B groupings are also four: in Group 1 there are Scotland, Switzerland, Slovenia and North Macedonia; in Group 2 Hungary, Ukraine, Georgia and Northern Ireland; in Group 3 Israel, Austria, Ireland and Kosovo; and in Group 4 Poland, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Romania and Sweden. The dates of the group stage are the same as for League A, as are the dates of the play-offs for promotion to the top division and for relegation to the lower league, League C.

Talking precisely about the third series, Group 1 features Albania, Finland, Belarus and San Marino, Group 2 Montenegro, Armenia, Cyprus and the winner of the playoff between Latvia and Gibraltar, Group 3 Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Faroe Islands and Moldova, Group 4 Iceland, Bulgaria, Estonia and the winner of the playoff between Luxembourg and Malta.

The fourth and final series, League D, will feature only two rounds at the start: Group 1 with the losers of Latvia-Gibraltar and Luxembourg-Malta who will keep company with Andorra, and Group 2 with Lithuania, Azerbaijan and Liechtenstein. At the end of the tournaments, the play-offs between League C and League D teams will be played well after the conclusion of the tournament in March 2028.
