Not one more medal in speed skating came for Italy at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina. At the Milan Speed Skating Stadium, Davide Ghiotto and Riccardo Lorello, in fact, failed to make the podium in the men’s 10,000 meters, the longest distance in speed skating: the Vicenza financier had to settle for sixth place, stopping the clock at 12’46″72, while the Army athlete posted a time of 12’56″22, which earned him eighth place.

The Dutch skating star is receiving a considerable amount of criticism

"Unbecoming behavior, if I had been the'coach I wouldn't have allowed it" wrote journalist Johan Derksen
"She is no different from the others, I find her decision ridiculous" added

Johan Derksen’s statements have divided the fans: there are those who stand by the champion and those who condemn her behavior

The very strong skater, thanks to her popularity, has signed very important sponsorship contracts

Winning the race was Czech Metodej Jilek, who with an excellent time of 12’33″44 becomes the youngest ever – 19 years old – to win an Olympic Games gold medal in this specialty. Behind him came Poland&#8217s Vladimir Semirunnyi, one of the big favorites on the eve along with our Ghiotto, and the Dutchman Jorrit Bergsma, who caught up with the very Blue and finished in third place.
