Jannik Sinner is about to return to the court. The Italian champion, fresh off his loss at the 2026 Australian Open to Novak Djokovic, is set to make his debut at the’ATP 500 in Doha, where he will begin his long chase for the number one spot, now occupied by Carlos Alcaraz.

The South Tyrolean tennis player will not have to defend any points in the next three months after he was disqualified last season for the Clostebol case, and will be able to make up much of the now clear disadvantage accumulated by the Murcian champion after his victory in the Melbourne Slam.

The'Blue is hunting for redemption after being eliminated in the semifinals at the Australian Open

Sinner is on the hunt for revenge after a so-so Australian Open, and in the final he could meet Carlos Alcaraz himself, who will be attending the tournament unlike Novak Djokovic. The athlete from Sesto Pusteria will take the court on Monday, Feb. 16 or Tuesday, Feb. 17 against Czech Tomas Machac.

The Blue has won the last two previous matches against the Czech Republic player, who was beaten in two sets in Miami and Shanghai in 2024. Sinner to Sky coldly analyzed the loss to Nole: “The defeat to Djokovic taught me a lot of things, it was a very good match from both me and him. I had my chances, but sometimes it doesn&#8217t go as one hopes. But this is sport”.
