On the day of her second incredible Olympic gold medal, Federica Brignone also returned to talk about her future, which may well be without skis on her feet. Retirement is a’hypothesis that, although without naming it, the Valle d’Aosta native did not rule out speaking to the many journalists who took her by storm in Cortina: “The program is to return to J Medical next week, then I have some commitments in Milan and then I will decide what to do”.

“The next step is to go back to J Medical and see how things are going. So far I’ve really been hanging in there, I’ve been taking anti-inflammatories every day, that’s enough now. Either my leg holds up, meaning I can still ski more or less without having to resort to anti-inflammatories, or else we’ll see. Fear of the’onslaught of my personal life? Yes, I want to live my normal life, with my friends at home, doing all the things I like, I want to live my life, I give less of a damn about being in the spotlight, honestly, the more I go on, the less I care”, added the tiger.

“Have I made history? I think I have made it before, with 15 years of career at this level, two World Cups–he was keen to point out -. I&#8217ve probably made it even more. These two medals don&#8217t change my status, or at any rate they shouldn&#8217t, what I had already achieved in the sport was the pinnacle. However, I realize that in the Olympic Games at home media-wise they make more of a difference. On a sporting level they don&#8217t add that much more. I hope I don&#8217t realize it too much, in the sense that I hope it doesn”t change too much.

“I felt like I had a so-so run – he had told Rai hot off the press -, I tried to push as hard as I could and at the finish I didn&#8217t even look at the screen with the times right away. I only heard screaming and from there I didn’t understand anything more. I turned to look at the scoreboard to get confirmation, I didn”t understand how it went”.

“The secret of the race? I tried to live it simply like any other race, thinking about my skiing: it was the best thing, because I really enjoyed it”, among the first words spoken after the triumph.
