Federica Brignone arrives right on time to another appointment with history: the Tigra from Valle d’Aosta goes for another gold medal in Milano Cortina 2026, winning the women’s giant slalom after having already been able to take the gold in Super-G in these Winter Olympics. The Italian star, in the lead after the first run, did not betray expectations in the second run, even going on to increase her lead over the other two athletes who finished on the podium, Sara Hector and Thea Louise Stjernesund.

The fall at the Italian Championships in Val di Fassa changes everything.
The Tiger of La Salle once again chooses the hardest road: starting over.
First timed run: time of 1'40"66 coming down among the last after the'fog interruption.
Solid skiing and good lines without forcing, encouraging signs after a few weeks on skis.
"I’m happy, I made a few mistakes and the snow was very soft".

"The jumps are pretty high, I tried to be soft and stay centered".
The palmarès speaks for itself: seven crystal balls, five world medals and three Olympic medals.
The'only missing piece remains the Olympic gold, Milan-Cortina is a personal challenge.
Brignone proves she is back not only to participate, but to really try.

Delusion for Sofia Goggia, on the other hand: the Bergamasque, third after the first run, slips away from positions useful for the podium after the second run. Nice comeback instead for Lara Della Mea, capable of dreaming of the podium until the last: for her, fourth place overall and some regret for the time of the first run, which had earned her the fifteenth partial position.

“The snow is very easy and the track is nothing special: you just have to go straight. Apart from the first turns it is really easy, I tried to attack, to be clean and smart on the terrain changes, at the end you have to reverse before the bump, like in the Super-G, for me it was easier – Federica Brignone had told Rai microphones after the first run -. I did a correct run and it came out well”.

Optimistic between runs also Sofia Goggia: “I haven“t seen the split times yet, in the top part I didn&#8217t feel the rhythm of the giant. I haven&#8217t done well in the giant races for a long time, but I felt fast underneath. It’s a tight race, Federica did very well. The position is good, the slope held: I will have to stay focused. I didn’t expect to be third. I care a lot about this discipline because it is the basis for going strong in speed”.
