Inter-Juventus, Alessandro Bastoni destroyed by criticism: a politician intervenes
Referee Federico La Penna’s decision to send off Pierre Kalulu during Inter-Juventus is generating a tide of controversy and many are also taking it out on Alessandro Bastoni: the Nerazzurri defender cheered after the unjust red card to the French defender and is accused by many of unsportsmanship. Even Enrico Letta, president of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic from April 28, 2013 to February 22, 2014, wanted to have his say: “Alessandro Bastoni should not be summoned to the national team” wrote the politician on X.
Former Juventus player Emanuele Giaccherini also took it out on the Inter defender: “His jubilation bothered me a lot, you have to have some’ lucidity in those moments…He made a smart move, let’s face it. I was lucky enough to play with Giorgio Chiellini who taught me fairness on the field”. Also of the same opinion is Massimo Ambrosini: “There’s little to say or add: Bastoni made a bad impression. I understand not exonerating the’opponent, but from there to have that reaction…He did something excessive, he also realized that what he did does not honor him and football”.
On the ejection of Pierre Kalulu, Graziano Cesari, who has been on the Mediaset commentary team for years, also spoke: “He made a blue-pencil mistake. The second yellow is nonexistent. There is no contact between Bastoni and Kalulu. There is distance. The Pen has a clear view but takes a glare. This was a genuine blunder. The referee’s mistake saves the Nerazzurri defender from the second caution for non-regulation behavior.”
After Inter’s victory over Juventus Luciano Spalletti did not appear at Sky Sport microphones but Giorgio Chiellini did, who was very harsh to Sky Sport: “You cannot talk about soccer, after what happened today it becomes difficult. Something unacceptable happened, for the umpteenth time this season. Once it happens to us, once to others”.
