Women’s Giant: Federica Brignone dominates first run, Sofia Goggia third

Great performance by Federica Brignone and Sofia Goggia in the first run of the women’s giant slalom: the champion from Milan finished in first place thanks to a time of 1:03.23, Goggia finished third at 1:03.69. At 1:30 p.m. there will be the second run at the Olympia delle Tofane in Cortina.

“The snow is very easy and the course is nothing special: you just have to go straight. Apart from the first curves it is really easy, I tried to attack, to be clean and smart on the terrain changes, at the end you have to reverse before the bump, like in the superG, for me it was easier – said Federica Brignone to Rai microphones -. I did a correct run and it came out well”.

Also very satisfied Sofia Goggia: “I haven&#8220t seen the split times yet, in the top part I didn&#8217t feel the rhythm of the giant. I haven’t done well in giant slalom for a long time, but I felt fast underneath. It’s a tight race, Federica did very well. The position is good, the slope held: I will have to stay focused. I didn’t expect to be third. I care a lot about this discipline because it is the basis for going strong in speed”.
