Casey Stoner reveals the secret of Marc Marquez’s dominance

Marc Marquez dominated last year’s World Championship, winning his ninth title with a superiority that left little room for competition. After difficult years marked by injuries and technical problems with Honda, Marc Marquez made one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the sport, returning to the top of MotoGP. With Ducati Lenovo, in his first attempt, he confirmed that he is the rider to beat. His impeccable tire management and extraordinary strategic intelligence allowed him to beat his opponents with ease, surprising even those who initially doubted his choice to switch to the court of Borgo Panigale.
Casey Stoner, interviewed by Crash.net, spoke about Marc Marquez’s success in 2025 and explained why 93 was superior to others. According to the two-time world champion, there are a lot of fast riders in MotoGP, but not all of them can give their best. “What he did was simply build another level of strength, intelligence and patience. That’s apparently what I think everyone who is challenging him now” said the Australian.
Stoner then highlighted an important point: tire management. The Spaniard was good at preserving the tires better than anyone else, keeping more control over the bike and not depending too much on the’electronics. “I think Marc has understood what you need to get from these tires and is really patient with them” added Stoner. An approach that allows him to make them last longer, maintaining more grip than others when the tires start to deteriorate.
L’former rider Stoner, who did not use electronics much during his career with Ducati, pointed out that Marc Marquez beat the competition through careful bike management. “One thing I think he is very good at: everyone else just relies on’electronics”, concluded the two-time World Champion.
With the new season getting closer and closer, curiosity is growing about what Marquez will be able to do. After his return to the track at the Sepang test, he made a’very good impression despite having just returned from the’injury suffered at Mandalika. The question now is, will he be able to repeat his dominance or will someone finally be able to seriously challenge him? The first round of the 2026 World Championship will be held in Thailand, February 27-March 1, and everyone is curious to see Marc Marquez in action.
