Federica Brignone drastic about her own future

After the very strong emotions of the last few days in Milan Cortina, with the two unexpected Olympic gold medals that came ten months after the very serious leg injury, results that made an already incredible career legendary, Federica Brignone allowed herself a moment of cold-minded reflection. The Aosta Valley Tiger spoke at a press conference at Casa Italia about how she overcame this seemingly impossible challenge and what fans and insiders can expect from her in the immediate future.

“I wanted to prove to myself that I would be able to do something that seemed unfeasible –she said.

-With an accident like that you ruin your leg, it is inevitable, but just the very idea of taking on an impossible challenge motivated me enormously. There are things we cannot control, but we can always decide how to react. If I had reacted badly on April 3, probably the operation would not have gone well and maybe I would not have been here, or maybe I would never have walked properly again”.

Sofia Goggia won the bronze medal in the women&#039s downhill, capturing another Five Circles laurel.
Also Lucia Dalmasso celebrated a bronze, in snowboarding, finishing third in the women’s parallel giant slalom.
In a crazy edition for the Italian luge, Dominik Fischnaller’s bronze in the men’s individual race is also recorded.
Bronze also for the Italian figure skating team (Rizzo, Grassl, Gutmann, Conti, Macii, Guignard and Fabbri).

Michela Moioli also found a medal in the individual: excellent bronze for her, recovering from a bad fall in training.
Davide Graz, Elia Barp, Martino Carollo and flag bearer Federico Pellegrino cheered for the splendid bronze in the men’s cross-country relay.

“The biggest challenge is to face your fears, to be able to do things that scare you – added Brignone, who with the two golds won in Milan Cortina 2026 has reached five Olympic medals, with a silver in Beijing 2022 and two bronzes in Pyeongchang 2018 and again in Beijing -. Maybe it also helped me that the Olympic area was closed: only people from the environment, only those who respect our spaces. It allowed me to be really focused on the’goal”.

On what will happen next, Brignone is crystal clear: “I have to go back to J-Medical to see how I am and what my chances are to continue the season. Right now the’idea of continuing is my screen for everything else that I don&#8217t want to deal with. I will try to protect myself with racing and life as an athlete, which is my biggest protection”.

“I will have to go back under the knife, but it still takes time– he explained further. “I am not ready to remove the plaque. My sporting challenge would be to qualify for the World Cup finals with three races to go, but maybe when I am on the track I will say I don&#8217t feel like taking certain risks anymore. We will see what will happen”.
