Marotta spoke on the issue upon his arrival at the Lega Calcio Serie A offices: “Our position is very simple. We have noticed that there&#8217s been an outsized media takeover of what happened. The player himself has been the subject of a media pillory that goes beyond what happened. We are talking about a 26-year-old player, with more than 300 appearances in Serie A, who has never been the protagonist of sensational events. He is an asset of the national team and someone questions his convocation, it is an unfair harm” the words of the Nerazzurri number one.

“We are facing a mistake by a young man, but who is not nor has he ever made one?

The Nerazzurri president also sent an important message, advising how everyone, from referees to clubs, players, and even the Federation, should do some thinking. In addition, he added how, often, we go over the top even in terms of verbal behavior (and would need fines).

In short, Marotta acknowledged the mistake made by Bastoni but does not accept that he should be blamed so much for the mistake. A strong stance that will, inevitably, lead to other reactions from the parties involved. The Inter-Juventus case is not resolved.
