Champions League 2025-2026: Borussia Dortmund-Atalanta, the likely lineups

This evening at 9 p.m. at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, the match between Borussia Dormtund and Atalanta, valid for the first leg of the Champions League playoffs, takes place. The Gialloneri are a fearsome opponent in full confidence: currently second in the Bundesliga and fresh from a clear 4-0 win against Mainz, the Germans are flying on the wings of enthusiasm. On the other side, however, comes an’Atalanta, perhaps in its best moment. After a complicated start to the season, Palladino has managed to find a square to his team, restoring solidity and compactness to La Dea. Recent results, including the victory against Juventus in the Coppa Italia, have restored enthusiasm to the whole environment.
Kovač has to deal with a crowded infirmary, especially in defense. The heavy absences of Schlotterbeck and Sule are forcing the coach to an emergency solution. The back line should see Ryerson alongside Anton and Bensebaini. In midfield, the ballot between Sabitzer and Jobe Bellingham remains open, with the latter currently favored for a starting shirt. In attack Guirassy, supported in the three-quarter by Brandt and Beier.
Bad news instead for Palladino, who has to give up two key players such as De Ketelaere, who underwent meniscus surgery, and Raspadori, victim of a hamstring injury. Dea will therefore rely on Scamacca in attack, supported by Pasalic and Zalewski in the three-quarter. In defense, the trio Scalvini-Djimsiti-Ahanor is confirmed, while on the right flank the ballot between Zappacosta and Bellanova remains open for a starting jersey.
Probable lineups
Borussia Dortmund (3-4-2-1): Kobel; Ryerson, Anton, Bensebaini; Svensson, Nmecha, Jobe Bellingham, Couto; Brandt, Beier; Guirassy. All. Niko Kovac
Atalanta (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi; Scalvini, Djimsiti, Ahanor; Zappacosta, De Roon, Ederson, Bernasconi; Pasalic, Zalewski; Scamacca. All. Palladino.
