The Cisterna Volleyball team, after clinching mathematical salvation, says goodbye to Filippo Lanza. The Zevio-born setter will fly to China, to Shanghai, where he will play the season finale in the China Super League with the Shanghai Brightman Volleyball Team jersey, a club that has decided to bet on him to better face the playoffs and chase the title.

“I thank the club for giving me the opportunity to live this new experience,” said Lanza. The agreement signed at the beginning of the season included the possibility of transferring me only after reaching the goal, including the Scudetto playoffs. If we were still in the running to get into the top eight, I would have stayed, and if we made them I would have played them all the way. Now that salvation is arithmetic and the goal has been crossed, the club has given me the green light to leave. I had already been to Shanghai in the 2021-2022 season, but Covid blocked everything. Now I will try again”.

Sunday Lanza left his mark in his last match with the Pontine jersey: 15 points and MVP award in the clear 3-0 win against Cuneo. “I wanted to thank society and city with an important victory in front of our public. Achieving salvation on our own merits, while also gaining a position in the standings, was crucial. I could not ask for better: the affection of the fans moved me. It was not an easy season, we faced initial difficulties, but with work we grew as a team and the young people made important steps forward. Here we work in the right way: this salvation gives me great satisfaction”.
