Golden trio: Italy triumphs in team pursuit

The triumphant Winter Olympics continues for the blue colors. On Tuesday afternoon came another splendid gold medal in speed skating: it was won by the trio composed of Davide Ghiotto, Andrea Giovannini and Michele Malfatti, who won the final of the team pursuit.

The three Azzurri came back and defeated the world champion United States in the final, making the fans in the stands explode with joy. For Italy it was the ninth gold medal in this edition of the Milan Cortina 2026 Games, the 24th in total. The bronze medal went to China, which beat Holland in the final for third and fourth place.

Italy triumphs again in the pursuit twenty years after winning gold at the Winter Olympics in Turin. Davide Ghiotto, Michele Malfatti, Andrea Giovannini finished the race with a time of 3’39″20, beating the Americans by 4″51. Gold medal also went to reserve Riccardo Lorello, who had won bronze in the men&#8217s 5,000 meters a few days ago.
