Ferrari on track with the Macarena, one of the innovations that most intrigued fans, ordinary enthusiasts, insiders and even opponents during the Bahrain tests. But what is it all about? It might seem obvious, but you never know: the famous group dance of the ’90s has nothing to do with it. At least not directly. In fact, everyone&#8217s attention has been focused on an unusual, very special rear wing mounted on the SF-26. And it was the team principal of the Cavallino, Frederic Vasseur himself, who revealed that the very new aerodynamic appendage has a unique name.

The Ferrari’s rear wing, in fact, does not just open up as the regulations allow. In fact, it even makes an additional movement that allows it to “tip over” all’backwards. A solution that only Maranello has adopted, but one that competitors have already put under a magnifying glass. A wing that “jumps all’backwards” (as if dancing the Macarena) could in fact represent one of the technological wild cards in a season characterized by a regulatory revolution. Just like this 2026 that is increasingly intriguing all those who have Formula 1 at heart.

Yes, in Ferrari we call it the Macarena. Because it makes a movement where it looks like it lifts the arms and brings them backwards”, Vasseur told the French ‘Canal+’ among laughter. Then, to the FIA channels, the Ferrari team principal clarified: “All teams are innovating, and we are doing it too. Then sometimes the innovations can be seen with the naked eye, sometimes not. The last two new elements we have brought to the track stand out clearly. But then it will be all to be determined whether we will offer them already at the Melbourne Grand Prix or whether it will happen later”.

The impression remains, however, of a very optimistic mood in the Ferrari household, as demonstrated by an however cautious Charles Leclerc. “The SF-26 looks like a good car from the outside during testing, but I think it is still too early to draw conclusions. Everyone is hiding their game and trying to make people believe that the’other team is the fastest. We are not really sure where we are” said the Monegasque driver.

Leclerc then addressed the work Ferrari wanted to focus on on Thursday: “The start is a very important moment in the race and we have taken that into consideration. It is still as difficult as it is for everyone, but maybe we have a slight advantage. I am happy with this because in Australia every start will be crucial: you can gain or lose many positions”.
