Now 33, the full-back who was part of Italy&#8217s selection at the 2014 World Cup and then at the 2016 European Championships (he wore the Azzurri jersey as many as 40 times) has been inactive since July 1, 2025, when he ended his contractual agreement with the Old Lady after a season on loan at Empoli. In the meantime, the possibility of a signing in the Czech Republic, at Hradec Kralove, had made its way to him. The’operation, however, ended in a dead end.

The club itself confirmed this, specifically through the words of its own ds Petr Pojezny. “We have evaluated all the circumstances, including the results of clinical examinations – said the Hradec Kralove sports director, as reported by ‘Idnes.cz’ -In the end, we were able to determine that De Sciglio would not be immediately helpful to our club. The reason we wanted to offer him a contract, however, was just that”. In other words, the concrete possibility of departure, for the Milanese defender, existed plenty. In the meantime, however, it has faded away.

The deep disappointment is also for Hradec Kralove, which believed in the’operation. “A player of De Sciglio&#8217s level would obviously have been a great addition not only for our club, but for the entire league of the Czech Republic – added Pojezny. However, we have decided to pursue our long-term strategy. We will continue to prepare the team for next season by respecting our philosophy, the same one we exposed to the new members when they joined the club”.

Hradec Kralove, a historical club first in Czechoslovakia and then in the Czech Republic, has a long national history but a rather small pedigree at the international level. Winner of the Czechoslovak championship in 1960, it reached the quarterfinals of the Champions Cup the following year. Its last participation in a European cup remains to this day dated 1963, in the Mitropa Cup.

Of course, De Sciglio&#8217s arrival would have been beneficial from this point of view as well, strengthened by the eight Champions League editions he took part in between Milan and Juventus. “We totally trust the current squad, which will face the spring part of the season and which we believe can be successful” concluded Pojezny. Currently the standings speak of seventh place, -2 from the playoff zone.
