Sportal.co.uk exclusive: Guido Meda takes a stand on criticism of Linsdey Vonn

Talking to the microphones of Sportal.it on the sidelines of the presentation of the Sky Sport motorsport season, Guido Meda commented, in no uncertain terms, on what happened to Lindsey Vonn in Milan Cortina 2026 not only with regard to the competitive aspect, but also to the vibrant social reactions, often aimed at criticizing, even harshly, the decisions of the American athlete.

“What happened is part of the game – said Meda -. To me it seems extraordinary that a 41-year-old athlete, who has done what she has done in her career, showed up with that ‘cockiness’ at the starting gate despite everything. Then it is easier to go and judge what happened after that, but I would have liked to have seen any other female skier, slipping into that pole there, come out with less damage”.

“Unfortunately when you practice a discipline like skiing it can happen, it&#8217s a bit like motorcycles. Indeed, often the speed disciplines of alpine skiing are even more dangerous” concluded the MotoGp commentator for Sky Sports.

Lindsey Vonn, who returned to competition just to compete in the Winter Games, had suffered an ACL injury a week before the Olympic races, which she did not give up, however. A bad fall in the Super-G, however, gave her an even more serious injury, which forced her to spend several days in the hospital in Treviso, with an initial passage to intensive care to ward off any further risk. Now Vonn is back in America, where she will begin long rehabilitation before figuring out what her competitive future will be.
