On the sidelines of Sky Sport’s presentation of the motorsport season, Guido Meda, the famous face of the Motomondiale commentary booth who had begun his professional career in alpine skiing, had his say to the microphones of Sportal.it about Sofia Goggia’s balance in Milan Cortina 2026. The Bergamo native, in her home Olympics, won a bronze medal, in downhill.

Meda, talking about what the Italian champion collected compared to expectations, did not hide too much but still pointed out: “I expected, I think like many, something more from Sofia. She deserves more, she is a legend. She has experienced a similar journey as Federica Brignone, she is a talent of speed, determination and grit, I do not dare to judge her”.

“Maybe she left wanting a little bit’ to overdo it – explained the Milanese journalist– but I have so much respect for her and for all athletes who take to the track that I for one know that judging them is a little bit’ wrong”.

Many have compared the balance of medals won by Goggia and her rival Brignone, but Meda makes a broader point: “That there is rivalry is a healthy thing, it&#8217s part of the job of a sportsman, especially if you play for the same stakes. Then the’important thing is that the two athletes respect each other, they are not obliged to spend their time together”.
