The former Bayern Munich goalkeeper and CEO Oliver Kahn revealed a backstory about Leroy Sané in an interview with Sky. The German striker throughout his time at Munich always had problems with continuity, so much so that he needed to be motivated constantly, by the coach and management.

Even Kahn tried on several occasions to boost the player&#8220s confidence: “We always had this problem with Leroy. I told him, ‘If I had your talent, I would be Messi’. He looked at me with wide eyes. He didn&#8217t know what to say. So I told him: ‘Just show me what you can do’. And that’s the whole point: to approach a player like that, to try to get him to give his best”.

Kahn also commented on Uli Hoeneß’s recent words against players’ agents: “There is a market for the absolute best players, and this market is extremely competitive. And of course, the agents know that. There are some clubs, we are talking about ten or fifteen clubs, that are able to pay really immense sums for the best players. We can always say that we are going back to focus on young people: as long as you win, it”s fine, otherwise not”.

Kahn also commented on Oliver Baumann as Germany&#8217s number one after ter Stegen&#8217s injury and Manuel Neuer&#8217s decision to step aside: “I do not know Oliver Baumann&#8217s character and personality very well. I can only speak for myself. When I became the No. 1 goalkeeper of the national team after Andreas Köpke, the situation became completely different overnight, because the’attention is all on you”.

“You are number 1 and you have to take on that responsibility. And that takes a little bit’of time. It also took me a while to get used to it. So far, I think Baumann has handled every pressure situation superbly and has shown no weaknesses”.
