A haunted Sunday, which began with a big scare on the pitch and ended with a defeat that threatens to permanently put an “end” to the team’s Scudetto ambitions. It all goes wrong for AC Milan, which lost 1-0 to Parma at San Siro due to Mariano Troilo’s header at the 80’ and saw leaders Inter maintain its 10-point lead in the Serie A standings. The Rossoneri come to a halt after 24 consecutive useful results and also tremble with Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s injury scare, before they can take a sigh of relief.

Parma got off to a strong start and immediately made themselves dangerous with Pellegrino. But the first turning point of the match came already after 7 minutes: Loftus-Cheek collided with Ducal goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi and collapsed to the ground. Great apprehension at San Siro, because the Englishman remains on the ground but also because the Milan medical staff after rescuing him immobilize his neck with a collar. Appearing bleeding under his nose and on his cheekbone even before he left San Siro, replaced at 11’11’, Loftus-Cheek suffered fractured teeth. Transported to the hospital in Milan to perform some necessary investigations, he remained conscious at all times.

Having overcome the great fear, Milan only recomposed itself after the quarter d’hour: two chances created by Jashari, Loftus-Cheek&#8217s own substitute, one by Leao, even three by Pulisic before halftime. Early in the second half, however, it was Troilo who saved Parma on a raid by the usual Pulisic. Guests were embarrassed, and after a sudden acceleration not taken advantage of by Valeri came a post hit by Leao with a splendid volley. The goal seemed to be in the air, but in the end it was the guests who found it. And, for a change, there is no shortage of controversy.

The one to pierce Maignan’s goal is in fact Troilo, who at the 80’80’ arrives first with a header off a Valeri cross. But the goal is not immediately validated, due to possible charge on the French goalkeeper. The VAR review is lengthy, but referee Piccinini rules that the goal is valid. Parma then takes the lead.

Considering also the long suspension, the minutes Milan has to try to find at least the equalizer are few. Fullkrug tried, but missed the goal, then Athekame was walled off and Rabiot could not find the winning shot. Parma wins its third in a row in Serie A and puts salvation on ice, for the Diavolo the day is all to forget.
