Parma conquered San Siro beating Milan 1-0, thanks to a goal by Mariano Troilo that sparked controversy at the end of the game. In fact, referee Marco Piccinini validated the ducats’ goal only after a very long VAR review for a suspected charge by Lautaro Valenti against Rossoneri goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The Emilian team’s lateral himself defended his behavior on TV, not convincing all fans nor insiders. Among them, a former goalkeeper, such as Luca Marchegiani.

Speaking to ‘DAZN’, Valenti appeared to be in no doubt about the’key episode of the San Siro evening. “I was on my back in relation to Maignan, I stood still and did nothing. I was sure that the referee would have awarded the goal –said the Parma player. “However, this victory for Milan is the result of our grit and the path we are on. These 3 points constitute a great advantage for us. Now we want to continue like this and aim for the fourth win in a row”.

Severo, however, Marchegiani. “It used to be that the goalkeeper’s movement in the box was protected. Valenti didn&#8217t use his hands on Maignan, I think that&#8217s why they decided to correct the referee&#8217s first call. But the referee initially gave a foul to Parma and a free kick to Milan. The fact remains that Maignan in the circumstance is disturbed by Valenti. Of this there&#8217s no doubt”, was the reading to ‘Sky Sport’ by the’former goalkeeper of Torino, Lazio and Chievo. The episode came just hours after the controversy in Bergamo, where Atalanta beat Napoli after two refereeing decisions disputed by the Neapolitan club.

The game-winning goal at the San Siro came at’80’ with Troilo’s header. As mentioned, Piccinini’s first decision was for non-validation of Parma’s goal. After the VAR review, the’1-0 that would later result in Milan’s defeat became final even at’84’.

Extremely negative match for Milan from every point of view. The Rossoneri saw an unbeaten streak that had lasted 24 consecutive games interrupted and also lost Ruben Loftus-Cheek, went off after a few minutes with broken teeth after a very hard collision with Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi.
