Sunday’s Serie A closes with a return to success for Roma, which overcame Cremonese 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico. Before the whistle blows, Gasperini has to deal with the unexpected: Hermoso accuses a physical problem during the warm-up and is forced to start from the bench. The start is blocked and the match struggles to get into the thick of things. The first real chance came in the 25th minute, when Luperto risked an own goal; a few moments later Koné tried to trouble Audero, who, however, answered back.

In the 35th minute, it was Mancini who had the sharpest chance of the first half: on Zaragoza’s perfect cross, his header was printed on the crossbar. In the opening minutes of the second half, Cremonese lost Payero to injury, and in the 59th minute Roma unblocked the result: Cristante soared on Pellegrini’s corner and beat Audero at the first post. The hosts continued to push, but N’Dicka and Celik failed to find the double; instead, in the 73rd minute, Folino managed to stop an inspired Malen.

The 2-0 came, however, in the 77th minute: N’Dicka himself signed his first Serie A goal, taking advantage of a corner kick taken by El Aynaoui and deflected by Cristante. Cremonese attempted a reaction with a counterattack by Vardy, but Svilar neutralized the English striker’s attempt. After a wasted chance from Thorsby’s header, Pisilli closed the score once and for all in the 86th minute, finding himself ready in the box for 3-0. In the final there was also room for a good shot by Venturino, before the triple whistle.

While Cremonese remains stuck at 24 points and extends its fast of victories, the Giallorossi hook Napoli at 50 points to third place in the standings and bring to four lengths the advantage over Juventus, fifth after the home loss to Como.
