Three gold medals and three records for Carlo Calcagni

Team Calcagni

At the Italian Paralympic Indoor Athletics Championships in Ancona, under the auspices of Fispes, Italian Army Role of Honor Colonel Carlo Calcagni won three new records, signing a performance destined to leave a mark in the recent history of Italian Paralympic athletics.

On the Marche track, Calcagni set the new record in the 60 meters with a time of 09″49, in the 200 meters with 29″29 and in the 800 meters with 02’08″49.

Three results of absolute technical value that represent not only numbers, but the synthesis of a human and sporting path built on discipline, sacrifice and an unwavering will.

Making the feat even more extraordinary were not only the three gold medals won in his own category, but a result that catalyzed the attention of the public and insiders alike: Carlo Calcagni also won the title of Absolute Italian Champion in all three competitions held, imposing himself in the three distances against the entire starting field.

“The greatest satisfaction is not only to have won three category golds,” Calcagni said, “but to have won the overall titles in the three distances. It is an achievement that goes beyond all expectations and proves that the value of an athlete is measured in the ability to overcome one’s limits and continue to believe in daily work, despite everything.”

The world champion is the best athlete in the world.

“Being the reigning world champion is a responsibility. It leads you to always work seriously, consistently and with maniacal dedication. With these results I have shown that my words are not just words. When, especially to kids in schools, I try to convey the value of sports beyond medals, the essence is to always put in your best effort, trying to be the best version of yourself every day.”

An athlete on the Italian National Paralympic Athletics Team and a landmark on the national and international sports scene, Calcagni continues to be a concrete example of determination and resilience, on and off the track.

The results obtained in Ancona confirm a path of sporting excellence and reinforce the message he has been bringing to schools, institutional events and competitions for years: sport is inclusion, testimony and rebirth.

This record-breaking weekend marks another step toward the upcoming international national challenges and, above all, toward the Paralympics in “Los Angeles 2028” with the goal of continuing to give voice to Italian Paralympic sport and the values that make it unique. Never give up, despite everything and everyone, whatever the cost.
