Barcelona is a team of exceptional talent, but often lacking in discipline. Since his arrival in Catalonia, Hansi Flick has established a strict regime to make his stars perform at their best, without too many distractions. Now the former Bayern Munich coach has further tightened his regime.

In an interview with El Hormiguero, midfielder Pedri and striker Ferran Torres revealed that there have been changes, especially regarding fines and penalties for latecomers: “Regarding punctuality, we have made some changes. If you arrive late, you will pay a hefty fine”.

In the past, Flick has excluded players such as Koundé, Rashford and Raphinha from the team for their tardiness in training or on game day. The new fine, Pedri revealed, amounts to “40,000 euros for 10 minutes late on game day. I dare not imagine how much it goes up to with 20 minutes late!”.

Flick in recent weeks has also had to deal with the tantrums of Lamine Yamal, who several times lashed out after being replaced. So far the German coach has downplayed his star’s behavior: “There is no problem. That&#8217s just the way he is. And I understand him perfectly, because everyone wants to stay on the field”.

“He also believes he can play 90 or 100 minutes. He&#8217s young and that&#8217s fine. He was a little bit disappointed with the substitution, but he had a yellow card and we needed fresh legs. Next time he will be on the bench…” he concluded jokingly.
