Undoubtedly Eileen Gu is among the most popular athletes in the world, and the recent Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina increased the fame of the Chinese champion even more. Back in China, Eileen Gu attended an event organized by TLC and gave a great life lesson to those in attendance: “There is tremendous power in winning by showing one’s difficulties and vulnerability: it gives others the strength to feel that they too can take this path. If I made it, anyone can try to make it”.

“I am not here to parade around with medals or to tell everyone that I am the best ever, the point is something else: if I can do it, then everyone else should try too– said Eileen Gu -. I want to show people how hard it was. I struggled so much tooth and nail, even mentally. Not to mention injuries like the one last year. The real power lies in showing the truest part of you, in all your vulnerability”.

The words of the young Chinese champion went around the web and thousands of fans sent her messages of complements for the beautiful life lesson: it is not every day you hear such true and sincere speeches especially from very young athletes. In closing, Eileen Gu joked with those in attendance: “If I learned some Italian? I took online lessons to prepare myself for these Olympics and to be able to ask for a cornetto when I needed one. Italy is simply extraordinary. The atmosphere, the people and the fans have been spectacular”.

In the past few days in Livigno, where the freeski competitions were held, a very clear poster appeared addressed specifically to the Chinese athlete: “Come on Eileen Gu, will you marry me?”” it was written on a cloth displayed from a hotel balcony. The’author of the proposal never came out of the closet but the gesture made the rounds on the web: “It would be nice if the author revealed himself, he did a very nice thing,” wrote Chiara on X. Manuela also appreciated: “Not all men are boorish and this gesture proves it, congratulations to the person who did it!” her comment.
