Sanremo, the bitterness of Amedeo Minghi

It’s all set for the start of the Sanremo Festival 2026, which again this year will not see Amedeo Menghi among the participants. It’s been the Roman singer himself to shed light on his non-participation, in a post on Facebook: “I read many of your messages, where you express displeasure for not receiving the lifetime achievement award in Sanremo”.
“I absolutely do not discuss Conti’s work, which I consider serious and professional, but, I have to take unfortunate note, that evidently he, doesn’t like my songs. And there is nothing to be done about it. Even last year, I made him listen to a song that he called “brilliant” but he did not take it, and even years ago, when he conducted the Festival the first time, he rejected my proposal. Again, nothing to object in that if he does not love my music, there is nothing I can do about it. I just wanted to, make you aware of the reality of things. I confess that it is an event that I would have shared with all of you that so many of you hoped it would almost be, and in part it would be, your own, well-deserved reward as well. The new album is almost ready and it will be our encounters, with my new music, that will be the most wonderful prize. I will point out the rejected song”, Minghi wrote.
In Sanremo, however, Russian supermodel Irina Shayk will be there. The ex-girlfriend of Cristiano Ronaldo has been given the task of co-host of the 76th edition of the Festival: she will be engaged on the evening of Thursday, February 26. This was announced by Carlo Conti with a video on Instagram in which he reported that she will be on the Ariston stage along with him and Laura Pausini.
The thirty bigs in the competition will be Tommaso Paradiso, Chiello, Serena Brancale, Fulminacci, Ditonellapiaga, Fedez & Masini, Leo Gassmann, Sayf, Arisa, Thirteen Peter, Sal Da Vinci, Samurai Jay, Malika Ayane, Luchè, Raf, Rag Dolls, Ermal Meta, Nayt, Elettra Lamborghini, Michele Bravi, J-Ax, Enrico Nigiotti, Maria Antonietta & Colombre, Francesco Renga, Mara Sattei, LDA & Aka 7even, Dargen D’Amico, Levante, Eddie Brock, and Patty Pravo.
