Borussia Dortmund management has long been on the lookout for defenders ahead of next season. Rebuilding the backroom will be the number one priority: Nico Schlotterbeck’s future at the club is in very strong doubt, and the defender will only decide in March whether to accept BVB’s proposed contract renewal offer. In addition, the unresolved situations of Niklas Süle and Emre Can are prompting the club to outline strategies for the summer as of now.

According to several rumors, Borussia Dortmund has reportedly put former Bayern Munich player Benjamin Pavard on its purchase list. The versatile French defender, who is under contract with Inter Milan, is currently playing on loan at Olympique Marseille, which has an option to buy him for 15 million euros.

BVB has expressed interest in Pavard but at the moment has not made any official bid for the French national, who in the Bundesliga has played for Stuttgart and Bayern Munich, winning four championships and a Champions League. In 2023, he had been bought by Inter Milan for a fee of about 30 million euros.

This season Pavard has played 28 games with Marseille, scoring one goal and making three assists. The French club is not going through a happy moment and the player would gladly return to the Bundesliga, where between Stuttgart and Bayern Munich he played for seven seasons.

The 2018 world champion’s market value is around 20 million euros. Marseille would have no plans at the moment to redeem the player&#8217s card, who is expected to return to Inter in the summer.
