L'Italrugby wants to rewrite history: word of Michele Lamaro

At the end of the Captain’s Run at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Italrugby is set to take on hosts Wales – Saturday, March 14 at 4:40 p.m. local (5:40 p.m. Italian) – in the fifth and final match of the 2026 Six Nations. “After the match against England there was a lot of tension that melted a little bit. It was an important match,” Michele Lamaro began in the press conference, “where we wanted to get to a definite result”.
“We are aware that in order to make a great Six Nations, we will need a great performance this weekend: this is what motivates us most of all – the men’s national team captain then stressed -. We want to continue to write history. We know we have an opportunity that so many would have liked to have and we have an obligation to go to Wales and play our best game”.
“Our focus always remains on performance and what we can control to put Wales in trouble, which, despite the results, has shown good performances in recent matches – added the Benetton Rugby third line. “We will need the best Italy and show the best version of ourselves. If we put everything we can on the field, with a lot of precision, we can take some satisfaction”.
“Wales can trouble us in different ways. They had two very good games against Scotland and Ireland and will come in with confidence. We will have to be careful from the start not to give them any advantages. The first few minutes will be crucial. At home they will want to bring the crowd into the game, and we must be good at preventing them”.
“They have a very strong forward pack and an effective maul, so discipline will be decisive. We must not concede easy meters, we must be focused from the start and play our game” concluded Lamaro.
