The Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup is back, and the Italian women’s team is back on track. Are, Sweden, hosts the last event before the eagerly awaited finals in Lillehammer, scheduled in just over a week in Norway. The giant slalom and slalom races are scheduled in the Swedish resort on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15, respectively.

If for the slalom everything is already decided, with the U.S. Mikaela Shiffrin absolute ruler of the season, as for the wide gates it could be the day of the Austrian Julia Scheib, who comes to Sweden with an important advantage and in case of a good result could mathematically win the specialty cup.

Among the Azzurre there is expectation above all for Saturday’s giant slalom, when Lara della Mea, fourth in the specialty in Milano Cortina and in the hunt for her first career World Cup podium, Laura Pirovano, a sensational protagonist in the downhill in Val di Fassa a week ago, and Sofia Goggia will compete.

The Bergamo-born skier after a difficult weekend in Trentino is hunting for redemption and confidence in the giant slalom ahead of the finals, where she will try to win her first career Super G specialty cup.

The women’s giant slalom will be held on Saturday, March 14 in Are, with the first run at 10 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m. On Sunday, however, the women’s slalom is scheduled: the first run is scheduled at 9:30 a.m., the second at 12:30 p.m. RaiDue and Eurosport will broadcast both events.

Sofia Goggia wants to end the season in the best possible way: the Bergamo-born skier currently leads the SuperG World Cup standings with 449 points, 63 more than New Zealand’s Alice Robinson. A sixth place at the finals in Lillehammer would be enough for her to mathematically guarantee herself the much-coveted Crystal Ball; with a worse placing, however, the result of her direct rival will also have to be watched.
