Zverev, on the other hand, has beaten Azzurro twice in the round of 16 at the Us Open (2021 and 2023), in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Monte Carlo Masters 1000 and in the semifinals at the 2020 ATP 250 Cologne.

Zverev spoke this way ahead of the challenge with Sinner: “I think we have played pretty close matches. The last ones were also very balanced, except the one in Paris where I was injured. In the last two years he has been one of the two best players in the world. He and Carlos have won all the Slams and the big tournaments. Obviously it is a challenge, but it is one that I look forward to”.
