Clear path so far for the world number two who has left crumbs to his opponents (two games to Dalibor Svrcina, three to Learner Tien, five to Denis Shapovalov) except in his match against Joao Fonseca. Zverev also had a rather easy path, forced to the third set only with Brandon Nakashima.

There are 10 previous matches between Sinner and Zverev with the South Tyrolean leading 6-4. The world number two is seeking a fourth consecutive victory with the German after a trio in last season&#8217s finale with wins in the final at the ATP 500 in Vienna, semifinals at the Paris Masters 1000 and in the round of the ATP Finals in Turin.

Sinner has won on three other occasions: in the final at the Australian Open 2025, in the semifinals at the Cincinnati 2024 Masters 1000, and in the round of 16 at Roland Garros 2020. Zverev, on the other hand, has beaten Azzurro twice in the round of 16 at the Us Open (2021 and 2023), in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Monte Carlo Masters 1000 and in the semifinals at the 2020 ATP 250 Cologne.

Zverev spoke this way ahead of the challenge with Sinner: “I think we have played pretty close matches. The last ones were also very balanced, except the one in Paris where I was injured. In the last two years he has been one of the two best players in the world. He and Carlos have won all the Slams and the big tournaments. Obviously it is a challenge, but it is one that I look forward to”.
