Dusko Ivanovic sternest with Virtus Bologna and Carsen Edwards

Virtus Bologna loses sharply in the Euroleague Italian derby with Olimpia Milano, capable of prevailing with a clear 103-87 result. A bad night for the Black Vu’s, as admitted without mincing words at the end of the game by coach Dusko Ivanovic. On his part, not only the admission of the opponents’ superiority, but also a substantial rejection of Carsen Edwards.
“First of all, congratulations to Milan,” said Ivanovic. “Olimpia played much better than we did. They were faster, while we lost all the confrontations that came up in one-on-one situations. Our individual defense was not up to the task.” Even drier were the words of Olimpia Milano’s coach on the only 9 minutes given to Carsen Edwards: “My decision.”
A very different atmosphere than the one breathed after the 104-94 accrued in the league just a dozen days before the Euroleague challenge. “I think we played really well,” Ivanovic said at the time. “We gave our best on the ball turnaround and in transition. Defensively we conceded something, but our changes created several difficulties for Olimpia Milano. We always go down the court thinking that Virtus Bologna has no problems, only solutions. Hence our show of strength against such an opponent.”
In the meantime, rumors are also circulating that Dusko Ivanovic’s renewal with Virtus Bologna appears less obvious today. Aris Thessaloniki, a Greek club with major ambitions that would also be evaluating the profile of Paolo Galbiati, has already inserted itself on the Montenegrin technician.
Ivanovic’s name therefore remains at the center of several market entanglements, just like that of Galbiati, who continues to be approached both by Virtus and other clubs. However, the track that would bring the Baskonia coach to Bologna seems to have cooled, as has the one concerning Amplijevic. Galbiati, fresh off his prestigious Copa del Rey success with Baskonia, is under contract with the Vitoria-based club until June 30, 2027.
