Marc Marquez explains what has been missing so far

Marc Marquez spoke at a press conference in Austin where the MotoGP World Championship makes a stop one week after the Brazilian Grand Prix. “Last year we started the season with a better shape and we are trying to get back to a good feeling – he began -. The goal is this for the weekend, Austin suits my style but the first two sectors are very physical and I’m not sure if I’m at 100% yet.”

He then explained what he missed in these first two rounds of the season where he collected 34 points that currently earn him fifth place in the overall standings. “We lack a little feeling,” the Ducati rider said, “I need to be more consistent on lap times. We need some consistency, we need lap times in an easier way. But it’s already gone better in Brazil than in Thailand.”

The reigning world champion is chasing his eighth win in Austin in the premier class: “It’s a track I love, but in the last four seasons I haven’t won. I have to figure out what mistakes I made and how to improve. Bez is showing great speed and is the favorite to lead the World Championship, I will try to stop him but right now he is the fastest rider. Diggia is also very fast, we will not focus on our work.”

“I think I have the best bike and the best team – added the Spanish centaur. Similarities between today and 2017, when ViƱales arrived here with two wins in a row? Every race is important, when there is a rider like Bez who wins with ease it is difficult to stop him, we will do our job. As for the comparison, I was in a different form…”.

“The MotoGP World Championship needs a lot of competitive manufacturers, if you have a lot of different colors on the podium it’s better. Right now it seems to be Aprilia’s time but there are still 20 weekends ahead…” concluded Marquez.
