Eagle Trent, many doubts about Massimo Cancellieri’s permanence

Massimo Cancellieri is one of the most respected coaches on the Italian basketball scene. Having arrived on the bench of Aquila Trento last summer, the 53-year-old Teramo native coach is having a positive season on the bench of Dolomiti Energia (despite the recent elimination from the Eurocup). However, his future could be elsewhere.

According to several rumors, at the end of the current season, it is likely that Massimo Cancellieri will decide to end his relationship with the Trentino club and get involved elsewhere. The feeling is that he has a desire to coach abroad. It would certainly not be the first time, since, in the recent past, he has coached Limoges (from 2021 to 2023), Strasbourg (2023/24) and, last year, Paok Thessaloniki in Greece.

After winning a lot, but as a deputy, at Olimpia Milano (from 2013 to 2029), the 53-year-old coach wants to win his first trophy as head coach. A goal he could try to achieve by going to coach some top clubs abroad.

Should he decide to end his adventure with Aquila Trento in the summer, it is clear that the bianconeri club will have to gear up to find a worthy replacement.
