Virtus Bologna, twist of fate: exonerated Dusko Ivanovic

Dusko Ivanovic is no longer the coach of Virtus Bologna. Surprisingly, the bianconero club announced the termination of the relationship with the Montenegrin coach through an official statement. Fatal for the now former bianconero coach was the defeat with Olimpia Milano on Thursday night in the Euroleague Euroderby, the fourth consecutive in Europe for the Black Vu’s.
“Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna S.p.A. announces that it has relieved Mr. Dusko Ivanovic from the position of head coach of the first team,” reads the note from the Bologna club. At the same time, the club announces that assistant coach Nenad Trajkovic also concludes his experience in the bianconero.”
“Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna would like to express its most heartfelt thanks to coach Ivanovic for his professionalism, dedication and work during his tenure. Thanks are also extended to Nenad Trajkovic. Best wishes for the continuation of their respective professional careers go to both of them.”
“The club also announces that the role of head coach of the first team will be given to Mr. Nenad Jakovljevic, who will be assisted by Daniele Parente and Cristian Fedrigo. To coach Jakovljevic and his staff the best wishes for the continuation of the sports season,” Virtus Bologna’s press release closes.
Ivanovic thus leaves the Virtus Bologna bench after almost a year and a half on the bench of the bianconeri with whom he won the scudetto last season. Now it will be Jakovljevic’s turn: his debut on the bench of the Black Vu’s will take place directly in the Euroleague on Tuesday, March 31 with Paris since Virtus will be resting in the next round of the championship.
